While it can be hard to find Anya Taylor-Joy not dressed in Dior, the Dune 2 actor did switch it up with a couple of looks she wore to stroll through New York City on Tuesday, which also happened to be her 28th birthday. And how exactly did she observe the occasion, fashion-wise? By leaning into two current trends.
It started when the Golden Globe winner was spotted in Midtown with her husband, Malcolm McRae, where she radiated Americana in a white tank, which she tucked into light-wash, high-waisted jeans and accentuated with two pops of leather: a motorcycle jacket that she draped across her shoulders and a pair of backless Tabis from Maison Margiela.

However, it was her hat that really caught our attention—a butter-yellow baseball cap with the U.S. Open logo on it. Everyone from Jennifer Lawrence to Emily Ratajkowski has been embracing the trending color this spring, and it appears Taylor-Joy wanted to get on board, too.
But that wasn’t the only fad the Queen’s Gambit star embraced yesterday. Later, as she and McRae took a stroll throughout the city, Taylor-Joy winked at the current cowboy trend, which has also been everywhere, thanks in no small part to Beyoncé and her new album, Cowboy Carter.

For this look, Taylor-Joy wore a baby tee from 12th Tribe with “I ♥️ Cowboys” across the chest in pink rhinestones. In contrast to the feminine tee, she continued with the leather touches from earlier in the day, this time in the form of a pair of knee-high black boots, a black miniskirt, and a matching leather jacket that she wrapped around her waist. To really sell the coolness of the look, Taylor-Joy accessorized with a pair of black cat-eye sunglasses.
