After Matthew Perry’s tragic death, Friends fans have been looking back at the iconic role of Chandler Bing. However, the character’s fate could’ve turned out oh so differently, if the actor didn’t step in to put a stop to a storyline of him cheating on his wife, Monica Geller.
The TV show aired for 10 years and seasons and is still one of the most watched shows today. Chandler Bing and Monica Geller, played by Courteney Cox, tied the knot in season 7, and by the end of the series, got their happily ever after when their surrogate gave birth to twins.

Matthew Perry ‘stopped’ storyline where Chandler cheated on Monica
Chandler Bing and Monica Geller were relationship goals to fans around the world. So, it’s no wonder Perry allegedly stepped in to stop a storyline that would change the whole dynamic of the relationship, and show.
Although they were a cute couple, no couple is perfect and they did have their ups and downs. In season 5, The One in Vegas: Part 1, they get into a huge over Monica ‘going to lunch’ with her ex Richard.
Of course, they get through this tiff, but in the original script, Chandler reportedly ends up getting friendly with a hotel worker. Things get even more friendly, and he eventually cheats on Monica.
Lisa Cash, who was allegedly meant to play the hotel worker spoke to TMZ about the ‘deleted scene’. She said Matthew Perry told writers to axe the scene after rehearsing it, knowing viewers would never forgive his character.
“He was probably right, that would have changed possibly the course of the show and of his character,” she revealed.
Despite not being able to continue with her role as the hotel worker Lisa wasn’t completely cut out of the show. She was given another role as the flight attendant with Ross and Rachel which she said was “great too.”
On working with Perry, Cash said she felt “so comfortable” around him, as he made her feel at ease.

The co-stars gathered for Perry’s funeral
On Friday, November 3, just under a week after the 54-year-old’s death, he was laid to rest in Los Angeles.
His friends, family, and five Freinds co-stars gathered at the memorial to pay their respects and mourn the loss of their loved one. According to TMZ, it was a small service, consisting of around 20 mourners.
Two days after his tragic death, Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, David Schwimmer, and Matt LeBlanc released a joint statement to PEOPLE, which read:
“We are all so utterly devastated by the loss of Matthew, we were more than just cast mates. We are a family.
“There is so much to say, but right now we’re going to take a moment to grieve and process this unfathomable loss.
“In time we will say more, as and when we are able,” the statement continues. “For now, our thoughts and our love are with Matty’s family, his friends, and everyone who loved him around the world,” they concluded.
